In the spring of 1939, the Sanitation Division of the Field Operations Unit of the Eighth Route Army established the Sanitation Materials Plant in the south of the Xibaitu Village, Lucheng City, Shanxi Province, Taihang Mt. It witnessed the birth of Wuhan Grand Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd, and was imprinted with the footprints of our predecessors.

In 1940, the Sanitation Materials Plant under the Eighth Route Army incorporated with the pharmaceutical division of the 129th Division of Eighth Route Army in Anle Village, and was renamed as the Sanitation Materials Plant, Sanitation Division of the Field Operations Unit of the Eighth Route Army. Chairman Mao personally wrote an inscription for the Sanitation Materials Plant: "Develop medicines for therapy and be brave in the embargo is one of the requirements to conquer the enemy.” The Commander-in-Chief—Zhu De also expressed his great hope for the incorporated Sanitation Materials Plant:"Intensify unity, and work hard to increase production and develop more medicines to support the front line and win the battle."
Since making a name in Dabaozui, Radix Bupleuri Chinensis is famous all over the country
In the war years, many front-line fighters had a fever from malaria. In line with the directives of Qian Xinzhong, minister of the Sanitation Division, the war fighter based on the rich local Radix Bupleuri Chinensis resources, tried to make the Radix Bupleuri Chinensis Injection by extracting the effective elements with the double distillation method. In May, 1943, a report entitled “a new contribution to the medical circle—Lihua Pharmaceutical Plant invented Radix Bupleuri Chinensis Injection” was covered in "Xinhua Daily" (Taihang version), claiming it as a piece of pioneering work within the blockage line, which is the earliest record of the successful making of the Chinese raw materials into the Western Medicine in China.
March toward south following the “Liu-Deng Army”, and station in Wuhan
In the summer of 1947, the Sanitation Materials Plant marched toward south following the “Liu-Deng Army”, stationed in Wuhan in the autumn of 1949 and was handed over to the local government in July, 1957 with the official name— “Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant”. In 1955, it was relocated to Chenjiadun, the shore of the Hanjiang River.
The first in China to successfully invent insulin
In July, 1953, Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant, in line with the instructions of Premier Zhou, started to develop insulin. It was put into production in 1956, and the technical indicators exceeded that of the former Soviet Union standards over the same period.
Fill the gap of the domestic medical raw materials
From 1958 to 1960, Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant, in order to break the international economic blockade on China, succeeded in making 59 types of new drugs on trial and put 12 types into production. Among these drugs, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Carbazochrome Salicylate, stomach rehabilitation Dimercapto-propanol have become the country's unique products; Metamizole Sodium and chloramphenicol have become the high-quality products; Insulin, adrenocorticotropic hormone have become the first-class products in the country.
"life-saving medicine" with outstanding contributions
In 1960, Dimercapto-propanol developed by Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant made great contributions to the lives of “for 61 fraternal comrades”. The similar "life-saving medicines" developed by Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant also include Norepinephrine Injection, Epinephrine Injection, Sodium Sulfate Injection, and Furosemide injection.
The first to successfully develop metronidazole in China
In the early 1960, Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant took a lead by successfully developing Metronidazole, and put it into production in October. In the 1960s, the raw materials of preparations began exportation.
In 1966, Weishuning Tablet began exportation, and in 1969, the raw materials of metronidazole were exported to earn foreign exchanges.
The unique Pirenoxine Sodium eye drops in China
In 1976, the unique Pirenoxine Sodium eye drops developed by Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant was put into clinical use, and the production of its materials and preparations was expanded in April, 1977. Since it was launched in 1978, it has won the deep trust of the cataract patients with the sales volume exceeding 300 million. It won the Silver Prize of National Quality Award in 1982.
Successfully developed the first national second-class new drug—Enoxacin
In the late 1980s, the company successfully developed the 4th generation of carbostyril drug—Enoxacin, the first second-class new drug in antibiotics since the implementation of "Law on the Approval of New Drugs" in China. Based on that, it has developed Enoxacin Gluconate Series—Enoxacin raw materials and its preparation injection, powdery injection, tablet, capsule, eye drops so far.
In 1991, Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant was approved as the national second-class enterprise, and in 1992, it won the “National May Day Labor Prize”.
In 1994, Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant was transformed into Wuhan Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd and in 1990, it was renamed as Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.
In 2001, Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. won the “Hi-tech enterprise Award”in Wuhan.
In 2002, China Grand Enterprises Co. Ltd became a shareholder of Wuhan Pharmaceutical Plant and the capital stock increased to 58 million yuan.
In 2004, Tirofiban Hydrochloride and Sodium Chloride Injection, the National Torch Program and the second-class new drug developed by Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.
were firstly listed in the domestic market. Currently, there are nearly 300 hospitals which have put it into clinical application, and more than 5,000 patients have received treatment. It has become a type of health-protection drug for the interventional treatment of the acute coronal and artery diseases.
In 2005, Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. won the key "Hi-tech Enterprise Award" of the National Torch Program organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and "Outstanding Private Enterprise Award in Hubei Province."
In 2006, Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. won the “May Day Labor Prize in Wuhan”
In August, 2005, Wuhan Nuojia Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. became a joint venture.
In April, 2007, Wuhan Grand Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd joined hands with ORBIS International Institute of Airplane Ophthalmology to cure and prevent blindness.
